Suzanne and I were very lucky to be assigned a slip on D Dock in Chicago when we purchased Oma. Our fellow neighbors on the dock are the best. We have become friends. Some we have skied with in Utah, some we have relied upon for boating advice, some have caught our lines as we come into our slip, some have helped with repairs and upgrades.
On the loop, we have visited and been hosted by some of those very same dock mates. Who just happen to winter on the Gulf Coast. Their generosity, local knowledge on where to anchor out and where to visit have enriched our voyage beyond measure.

They have taken us to drum circles on the beach

Allowed us to tie up to their private docks

Taken time to assist with the replacement of our alternator, lent us their cars and shared their dogs with us.
To all of you that made our time there memorable, thank you!

Beautiful pictures, beautiful tribute, and story as well. We’re sorry to have missed the drum (?) extravaganza.
Keep smilin’ down there — the weather tween you and the North Pole is all about the same temperature: ice-covering everywhere, snow 18″ in a day, wind pushing real feel to -20 temps.
Thanks for your warming story, and dog pics too.
So very special. Having wonderful friends is everything when you are as fortunate as I am to have friends like the two of you! And you have the extra fortune to have friends all over the place. Safe travels to you, my dear friends Suzanne and Paul.
